Amats

They were drinking last night, so they're drunk(amats) now.

Amams

A term used affectionately to refer to one’s mother. It’s derived from reversing the syllables of the word “mama”.

Example:

Tsikot

A casual term used to refer to a car or automobile.

Example:

Used to refer to one’s mother. It’s derived similarly to “erpat,” where the syllables of the word “mother”

Example:

Bumili ako ng regalo para sa ermat ko sa Mother's Day.
I bought a gift for my mom(ermat) on Mother's Day.

Erpat / Erpats

A term used to refer to one’s father. It’s derived from reversing the syllables of the word father.

Example:

Nag-celebrate kami ng birthday ng erpats ko kahapon.
We celebrated my dad's(erpats) birthday yesterday.

Apaps

A colloquial term used to refer to one’s father. It’s derived from reversing the syllables of the word “papa”.

Example:

Sinasamahan ko ang apaps ko sa palengke tuwing Sabado.
I accompany my dad(apaps) to the market every Saturday.

Uyab

Refers to a romantic partner or someone’s boyfriend or girlfriend. It’s similar to the more formal term “kasintahan.”

Example:

Kasama ko ang uyab ko sa sine kahapon.
"I was with my boyfriend/girlfriend(uyab) at the movies yesterday.

Edi Wow / Edi Waw / Edi Shing

Used sarcastically to express indifference or to mock someone else’s statement, usually to downplay its significance or to show lack of interest.

Often used in a dismissive or sarcastic tone, implying that the speaker is unimpressed or unconcerned about what was said.

Example:

Sabi niya, ang galing daw niya mag-basketball. Edi wow(edi waw/edi shing)!"
He said he's really good at basketball. So what(edi wow/edi waw/edi shing)!
